Beautiful Butterflies

Since we moved into our new Stampin’ Up! office (Australia) a few years ago, we’ve been gradually adorning our walls with Stampin’ Up!-related artwork. We started with an eye-catching Stampin’ Up! sign (our logo) that constantly changes color; we also added a couple of cabinets showcasing changing displays of Stampin’ Up! craft projects. We then created a wall of nine frames, each filled with a sheet of Designer Series Paper—it’s a great way to create an impact without going to great effort to create “art”. The hard work is already done for you in the beautiful paper designs!
More recently, with our 2013 annual training events out of the way, I finally got around to creating an art piece that I’d been assigned to. I consulted with Aaron (my manager) and ran a few ideas past him. Luckily, we had a similar vision!  Together we decided on the basic look and feel: 1) Night of Navy Cardstock to match the paintwork on the feature walls; 2) butterflies—we have such beautiful butterfly dies and punches that this seemed like an obvious choice; 3) organic—to create a look and feel of movement, bringing the butterflies to life.
Aaron purchased a large frame for the art piece, but we decided to ditch the frame altogether and worked directly on the wall—a bit of a risk, but what was the worst thing that could happen? We’d need to repaint!
I was a little intimidated by the stark wall, initially, but after adhering the first few butterflies, my fears subsided as the wall came to life. I’m pleased with the end result! What I really love are the shadows of the butterflies created by the light. But would you like to know the best thing about it? It really was easy to create! Our gorgeous dies and punches did all the hard work for me!
I used: Night of Navy Cardstock; Glue Dots; the Bitty Butterfly and Elegant Butterfly Punches; the Big Shot; the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die; and the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die.
