Christmas card surprise

Did you all have a great Thanksgiving?

I had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I spent the morning with my best friend and her family and for the rest of the day, my husband and I and our two sons enjoyed the making a meal together, putting up the Christmas tree and watching some football! My husband is a BIG Dallas cowboys fan, bummer we lost.
Did you do any black Friday shopping? I used to but people are to rude for my liking. I made cards instead and let me show you what I made.

Now before I show you this card let me tell you it was not my idea. I CASE'd it from DOstamping with Dawn - http://dostamping.typepad.com/. She posted this video in 2012.  Fabulous tutorial. I can see this card used for many more cards other than Christmas. Her video is listed here.

I have an upcoming December card class and wanted to do something special for those lovely ladies who support me all year long. Each one will receive is as a gift to them.

Don't you just love them! I sure do. The stamp set is retired as it was from the Holiday Catalog 2012 but you can use so many things. I could see a stamped fire in the vellum and the tea light behind it for the flame. Great idea for a kids birthday card.
As always, thank you for stopping by and I would love to hear your comments. Until next time keep Stampin With Katherine. Want to get started on this project? Email me your order or go to my website and let your fingers do the walking.

Sunday Share FM187 It's all about the weather!

FM187 It's all about the weather!

Happy Sunday to everyone! I hope your staying warm. Here in Montana it has been threatening to snow, I say bring it on! I love the snow. I don't like to drive in it, but I love the beauty it brings. I haven't participated in a challenge in a while and I thought it was time I got busy and participated. There are so many options out there. This challenge comes to you today from The Friday Mashup, they are so creative. Here is the challenge...

This week's Mashup Challenge is:
  • Create a project using "a Metal Embellishment (Staple, Brad, Grommet etc.)".
  • Create a project using "Weather as your Inspiration" think Storms, Winter, Clouds, Rain, Sun, Warm Sandy Beaches.
  • or Mash it Up! and create a "Weather inspired project with a Metal Embellishment".
As I mentioned before I am ready for the snow to fall, so naturally I decided to do a snow them. My card shows you how to make a card using a technique called Herring-bone technique and how to use those scraps.

1. I start off by cutting strips of DSP 1/4" thick, varieties of length are good because it takes all sizes.

  2. I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock measuring 5 1/4"x4" and adhered that to Stampin' Up! double sided sticky sheets. Then I start by putting down three strips of DSP as shown below.

3. Starting in one section rotating DSP work in one direction and then cut off the excess.

4. You are going to continue to fill in the remaining 3 sections. Once you have finished you have created the Herring-bone Technique and you have used up some scraps you have around the craft room.

5. I made one in the green, red & white colors and one in Blue, gray and white. Once you have these created you can cut out the design of your choice, I choose Bigz Snow Flurry (retired), you could also use festive flurry framelits all used with the Big Shot.

6. At this point you have some very beautiful snow flakes and a fancy background with snowflake silhouettes. I can used both, that way you have no loss in paper, everything is used.

7. You have snowflakes to use on a card too!

8. I used Night of Navy as the background, embellished with some silver ribbon and a Metal snowflake with some bling.

Saturday card class

SATURDAY CARD CLASS

I did not have a large class on Saturday but we had a great time non the less. One on one attention is great too. For this card class I wanted to do a few cards and a 3-D project. I choose to do an angel using the bow Bigz die cut (retired), which was very big last year. You can also make this angel using the envelope maker. We did a winter them card that creates the perfect snow effect. I CASE'd this card from Connie Stewart. Love her blog and ideas. Then last but not least I choose a simple yet elegant card.

"Stampin with Katherine, Katherine LePiane, snow card, card class"

I am so glad you stopped by. Stay tuned for tutorials on these cards and angel. I hope to hear your thoughts on these cards. Until next time keep stampin with Katherine. Need to place an order feel free to email me or check out my website.
